Kaylee Hottle was 18 years old. Deaf from birth. Cast in one of the biggest Hollywood franchises in the world before most kids her age had figured out what they wanted to do with their lives.
In 2021, she played Jia β a young deaf orphan β in Godzilla vs. Kong alongside Rebecca Hall, Alexander SkarsgΓ₯rd and Millie Bobby Brown. Her performance was so powerful that she came back for the 2024 sequel, earning a Saturn Award nomination for best younger performer.
On Tuesday morning, she died in a single-vehicle crash in Frederick, Maryland. Excessive speed was believed to be a factor. She was a passenger.
