The photograph appeared suddenly. Without warning. Like a slap in the face to those who had been following the case for days, their hearts in their mouths. A red-haired woman, visibly distraught,  is being escorted by agents from a specialized criminal investigation unit . Her hands are in front of her, her face broken. Around her, steady gazes, black uniforms, gray streets.  The message is clear: something has just changed .

“ BREAKING NEWS ,” reads the headline accompanying the image. “ They’ve just arrested the killer… ” And although the sentence is cut off,  the impact has already been made . In a matter of minutes, the photograph is shared across groups, pages, and profiles. Comments flood in. So do the theories.
