What Is Chronic Venous Insufficiency?

Chronic venous insufficiency is a condition that occurs when veins in the legs struggle to efficiently return blood back to the heart.

As circulation becomes less effective, blood can pool in the lower extremities, leading to symptoms such as:

swelling,

heaviness in the legs,

discomfort,

fatigue,

skin discoloration,

or visible vein enlargement.

Medical experts note that the condition is relatively common, particularly among older adults.

The White House emphasized that CVI is considered benign and manageable, especially when monitored appropriately.

Officials also stressed that more serious conditions were ruled out during testing.

According to the physician’s report:

no evidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) was found,

no arterial disease was detected,

and no significant cardiac abnormalities were identified.
